The Not So Big Bad Wolf Amigurumi Pattern

Sharing is caring!

The Not So Big Bad Wolf amigurumi pattern is a crocheted and knitted toy that looks like it just stepped out of a vintage children’s book. The seventeen page pattern also includes links to helpful video tutorials to help you along the way.

You’ve heard of the Big Bad Wolf before, but you may not be familiar with his grandson, Winston. Winston is not so big and not so bad.

Unlike his grandfather, Winston has no interest in blowing down houses of little pigs. He actually wants to be an architect when he grows up. Winston loves building things up!

The inspiration for the Three Little Pigs and the Not So Big Bad Wolf came when I was enjoying the art of my favorite children’s book illustrator, Teagan White. Although she is an acclaimed fine artist, her work in children’s literature has long been a love of mine.

Originally, I was just going to write the pattern for the pigs, but then a sweet comment from an Instagram friend sparked an interest in creating a wolf as well.

I have enjoyed creating these characters so very much and I hope you will feel that as you crochet and knit them as well.

My love of all things vintage comes from my stepdad, Steve, who loved collecting antiques, especially old toys. And for that reason, I am dedicating these patterns to him.

Crochet and Knitting

The Not So Big Bad Wolf amigurumi pattern is suitable for intermediate crocheters and knitters.

While the body is crocheted, the clothes are all knit in the round, on double pointed needles.

How to Substitute the Pants for the Wolf and Pigs

The clothing for The Three Little Pigs and the Not So Big Bad Wolf are made to be interchangeable (with one small adjustment).

The tail hole sizes are totally different so you will need to adapt your pattern if you would like to switch the pants.

Below you will find a portion of the pattern that explains exactly how to do that.
