5 Amigurumi Books That Need to Be in Your Collection

Sharing is caring!

These are THE 5 Amigurumi Books that need to be in your collection. From Harry Potter to Iconic Women to Kingdoms to Tooth Fairies and everything in between, you’ll be sure to find amigurumi toys to crochet for your family, friends and most of all yourself.

Is there anything better than brand new amigurumi books?

Ok. I’ll admit maybe there are a few like….puppies, kittens, newborn babies and Christmas.

But that’s it. Nothing else tops brand spanking new amigurumi patterns (that are all absolutely adorable too).

This post contains affiliate links and at no cost to you I may earn a teeny tiny commission if you choose to purchase them. Please know that I only recommend products I use and love! Thank you for supporting Le Petit Saint Crochet! You can read my full (and slightly boring) full disclosure here.

The 5 Amigurumi Books You Need in Your Collection

When the good folks at Amigurumi.com reached out to see if they could send me their newly published book of crocheted toy patterns, I immediately said yes.

Who doesn’t want to thumb through page after page of the most adorable amigurumi patterns?

At the same time several other amigurumi books came out in 2021 that I had to have. And of course, I wanted to share them all with you too!

Amigurumi Friends & Celebrations

It’s always wonderful to receive a gift and this one was no exception. I was so excited to get my hands on this book from Amigurumi.com.

There are fifteen adorable patterns to choose from and they are all a celebration of a holiday or a special event.

You’ll find patterns for:

  • Valentine’s Day
  • Christmas
  • Tooth Fairy
  • Happy Birthday
  • Golden Wedding Anniversary
  • Graduation
  • Newborn Baby
  • Happy Mother’s and Father’s Day
  • Feliz Cumpleanos
  • First Holy Communion
  • Baby Number Two on the Way
  • Happy Easter
  • Just Married
  • Halloween
  • First Day of School

The patterns are all designed by different, well-known amigurumi designers like Thuy Anh from Green Frog, Ilaria Caliri from Airali Design, Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh from Khuc Cay and Erinna Lee from Little Aqua Girl.

I love each and every one of these adorable patterns, but I have chosen two to share with you.

Trick or Treat

This adorable Halloween pattern was designed by Damla Savas from Yesiltosba.

These two kiddos are all dressed up and ready to go Trick or Treating. The little girl, Willy, is dressed in a pumpkin skirt, little green top hat and black cape. Her auburn pigtails stick out, creating a realistic effect.

The little boy Joey is decked out in his finest Dracula costume. He also has his bucket ready to be filled with candy.

Losing Your First Tooth

I am in love with this Tooth Fairy pattern by Thy Anh from Green Frog Crochet.

Oh my goodness. How adorable is this little fairy?

She is wearing a beautiful blue costume and has her bag ready to collect the tooth under the pillow. She also has her magic pom pom wand ready to gift the child with a special treat.

Harry Potter Crochet Wizardry

When my friend Lee Sartori from Coco Crochet Lee announced she would be writing a Harry Potter Crochet book, I placed my pre-order as soon as I could.

This collection of crochet patterns captures the magic and whimsy of the Harry Potter world.

Not all of these patterns are amigurumi but they include these crocheted toy patterns:

  • The Sorting Hat
  • Fawkes
  • Professor McGonagall’s Animagus
  • Mandrake
  • Hedwig
  • Dobby
  • Patronus

You’ll also find patterns for costumes, fashion and home decor.

My favorite amigurumi patterns from the book are:

The Sorting Hat

The Sorting Hat may be on of my favorite characters from the Harry Potter series. When he is put on top of the heads of the new students coming to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he assigns them to a house based on their personalities.

Lee Sartori’s crocheted version of the Sorting Hat is nothing short of magical.

Sorting Hat

Mandrake

The Mandrake was designed by Jillian Hewitt of Spin A Yarn Crochet. This ragdoll style toy captures the essence of Mandrakes from the second Harry Potter movie, The Chamber of Secrets.

Ragdoll style amigurumi projects are crocheted with two flat panels that are then sewn together.

Mini Kingdom

Oh my goodness. This book of amigurumi patterns by Olka Novystka of Aradiya Toys is a little girl or boy’s dream come true. It truly is a must-have amigurumi book for 2021.

In this book you will find thirty-six tiny amigurumi royal pattern to choose from. Or just make them all.

Some of the patterns include:

  • King
  • Queen
  • Prince
  • Princess
  • Beekeeper
  • Wizard
  • Fairy
  • Unicorn
  • Horse
  • Knight
  • Joker
  • Milk Lady
  • Thief

There are so many adorable characters to choose from.

One of the unique things about these patterns is that there is a Master Pattern that many of the toys are crocheted from. I will be bookmarking that page to easily find it when making the different characters.

I adore each and every one of these amigurumi toys and I know that children (and adults) will enjoy playing with their Mini Kingdom characters.

My favorites are:

Dragon

I know dragons are supposed to be fearsome creatures, but I just want to scoop this one up and plop a big kiss on the top of his head.

Even though he has a very angry look on his face, his little wings and colorful spikes make him totally adorable.

Flower Girl

Every kingdom town market has a little Flower Girl who sells her Narcissus, Gerber Daisies and Bell Flowers.

This sweet little doll has beautiful bonnet and traditional dress. Add in her potted flowers to create the perfect little scene.

Amigurumi Treasures 2

Next we have the latest publication by Erinna Lee from Little Aqua Girl.

Amigurumi Treasures is the second edition in the series. It is loaded with fifteen brand new amigurumi patterns and each one is completely captivating.

I’m a big fan of Erinna’s amigurumi style. From her pastel color palette to the loveable characters, each one is unique and oh so cute.

Since I can’t show you each and every pattern, I’ll share two of my favorites:

Benedict the Shrew

This may be one of. the cutest amigurumi patterns ever.

I’m a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and I don’t think I ever thought I would see a shrew dressed as the famous detective himself.

This little sleuth is full of details from his traditional hat adorned with ear flaps to his checkerboard cape.

I’m totally in love with this little guy.

Coco the Crocodile

Have you ever seen a crocodile ballerina? Neither have I, but I’m so glad that she has come to life in this adorable pattern.

Coco not only has her very own tutu, but a little golden tiara atop her sweet little head.

Crochet Iconic Women

I’ve been a big fan of Carla Mitrani from Amour Fou Crochet for quite some time.

When I crocheted her Anne of Green Gables pattern, I was drawn to the simplicity of the design as well as her ability to capture the essence of one of my favorite characters from literature.

There are fifteen different iconic women to crochet from including:

  • Amelia Earhart
  • Queen Elizabeth II
  • Jane Goodall
  • Audrey Hepburn
  • Billie HOliday
  • Cleopatra
  • Emmeline Pankhurst
  • Florence Nightingale
  • Greta Thunberg
  • Jane Austen
  • Malala Yousafzai
  • Marie Curie
  • Rosa Parks
  • Ruth Bader Ginsburg
  • Serena Williams

My favorites include:

Rosa Parks

What a wonderful way to teach children history through amigurumi. The Rosa Parks doll perfectly captures the tenacity and strength of one of America’s heros. Her fight for civil rights make her a wonderful doll to have in your collection.

I love her iconic hat and handbag. Her face conveys her fierceness and strength.

Jane Austen

Jane Austen may not have outwardly fought for the freedom of women and minorities, but she was an icon no less.

During a time when women’s talents were buried underneath culturally accepted roles, Jane Austen wrote with a passion and talent few could deny.

This Jane Austen pattern is for lovers of her beloved stories like Pride and Prejudice and Emma (which are my favorite Jane Austen books).
