Favorite Knit & Crochet Projects for Easter

Sharing is caring!

These knit & crochet projects for Easter are just about the cutest things I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Bunnies and carrots are symbolic of the season and I believe these patterns are the best of the best.

This Easter is going to look quite a bit different than every other one I’ve ever celebrated. I’ve come to accept that. But doggone it, I’m still going to enjoy one of my favorite holidays. I’m going to make deviled eggs, eat chocolate and put a big smile on my face. And these adorable knit & crochet Easter projects are sure to bring a smile to YOUR face.

I realize there are a lot of patterns out there for Easter. You’ve got rabbits, Easter eggs, candy, and basket patterns galore. The two I made happen to be some of my favorites. If you’ve been around for any length of time you know how much I love the bunnies from Little Cotton Rabbits.

What you might not know, until now, is that I’m a big fan of another crochet designer. She is as kind and she is talented. And I know you’re going to love her.

Let me introduce you to Jen, of Jen Hayes Creation. If you’re looking for an amigurumi designer with adorable patterns, look no further. But don’t put Jen in a box, she designs hats and scarves and gorgeous home decor items as well.

These Cottage Garden Crocheted Carrots caught my eye straight away. I immediately wanted to make them and knew they would be perfect for my two knitted bunnies. What I love about this pattern is that 1. It’s free. What’s better than free? 2. It’s very professionally produced.

A well written pattern is worth its weight in gold. And as someone who has written a few patterns of my own, there’s so much work that goes into this. Jen has dotted every “i” and crossed every “t”.

I literally whipped up these two crocheted carrots in no time at all. The only thing I changed was the weight of the yarn and the size of the hook. Because I wanted a carrot that matched the size of my bunnies I used a sport weight yarn and a size C hook.

But as I’ve said multiple times, use what you have. You aren’t crocheting a garment that needs to make gauge. If you have a gorgeous orange yarn and a hook that works, use that. We are in an unusual time and we need to make do with what we have.

I am obsessed. I know it. Admitting it is always the first step. I love these designs from Little Cotton Rabbits so much. These Small Rabbit patterns work up quite quickly. They are several inches smaller than the standard size bunny patterns. The small rabbit pattern contains everything you need to knit the boy and girl bunnies.

If you have never knit one of the Little Cotton Rabbit patterns check out my series Knitting Toys 101. The patterns in and of themselves are a tutorial but if you need specific help with certain techniques, I got you.

I’ve covered the cable cast on, which is a staple in every pattern. Do you know how to knit and purl? Also included are the most common increases and decreases you will find in the patterns.

The combination of the knit bunnies and the crocheted carrots came out even better than I imagined. They bring me so much joy when I see their little smiling faces and carrot in hand. I need a little joy right now.

A Different Kind of Easter

My hope is that your Easter is a joyous one, regardless of the circumstances that we have found ourselves in. I will not see loved ones that I normally do like my daughters or my mom. I won’t see my little nephews who will be excited about their Easter baskets. But I’m going to choose to rejoice anyway.

And when we do finally get to come back all together, I hope that I never ever take them granted again. We don’t know what tomorrow holds but we do have a choice in how we respond. I’m preaching to myself here.

I wish you all a very Happy Easter! Happy Stitching!
