I Was on the Bhooked Podcast!!

Sharing is caring!

When one accomplishes a lifelong goal it is only natural to bake a big fat yummy chocolate cake to celebrate, no? For me, being on the Bhooked podcast was definitely a lofty ambition and there was no better way to memorialize it!

Have you ever had an aspiration, but honestly never thought it would happen? Ever been so excited that you then had to make a decadent dessert to celebrate? Well today a big dream of mine came true and then I cooked up a ginormous ole calorie-packed chocolate cake to commemorate the occasion!

To celebrate being a guest on the Bhooked podcast I baked a gorgeous chocolate cake topped with Nutella and strawberries!

Never miss a blog post again!

Bhooked Podcast

If you have never heard of the Bhooked Empire, (as it shall be known in the history books) let me introduce you! Brittany is a prolific blogger, YouTuber, social media influencer and podcaster! Her following on Instagram is upwards of 173,000 as of June of 2019! And on Youtube she has almost 280,000 subscribers. Now are you impressed???

What is even more extraordinary is that Brittany’s mission is to serve. She offers 99% of her content for free. She passes on her wisdom and knowledge as eagerly as a grandma handing out candy on Halloween! Now don’t get me wrong, Brittany is young, and hip, and so so sweet… just like me!!! (cough, cough) Don’t ask my kids if I fit that description, they are known liars!

Big Dreams

I’ve begun to realize that I’m a bit of a dreamer. Now I always thought of myself as the practical buttoned up type, but I think I was wrong. I dream, and I dream big. I have been an avid listener to the Bhooked podcast for quite some time. Not long after I began crocheting I found Brittany’s show and immediately loved her warm personality and informative guests. When I listened to her episodes I would think about what it would be like to be interviewed by Brittany, never thinking it would actually happen!

Who Me???

So when Brittany reached out to me to see if I would be willing to be on her podcast I was floored!! I could not believe it! My first instinct was to go all fan-girl on her and add lots of emojis and exclamation points to my response. But I played it cool, and forced myself to wait a few seconds before responding!

As of writing this blog post I have not heard the episode but I remember that we had a lovely conversation. I was so so nervous when we first began chatting and was afraid that my voice would betray my jitters! Within a few minutes it felt just like I was chatting with an old friend and I almost forgot Brittany was recording a podcast!

Podcast

We talked quite a bit about why I began crocheting in the first place. Going down memory lane, I shared that the stress of my son’s medical crisis was what really drew me to the craft in the first place. We then talked about my love of granny squares and finally my obsession with amigurumi!! I am so honored to have been a guest and hope that you all will listen to the episode!

Celebrating with Cake

Once the recording was finished I knew there was only one way to celebrate! CHOCOLATE!!!!!!

Can you even celebrate without chocolate??? I frequently scroll the Pioneer Woman’s blog to find recipes and when I stumbled upon her Chocolate Strawberry Nutella Cake I knew I had to make it! I’m going to be honest, although I can bake a tasty cake, they rarely look this good. I mean for me, this is a masterpiece! It was so moist (my sister-in-law hates that word and I can’t help but think of her every time I see or hear it – Hi, Sara Ann!) and deeeeee-licious!!!

From the get-go I knew I was going to like this cake because the recipe calls for buttermilk! I love the tangy flavor it gives baked recipes and paired with chocolate it is divine! And since it is strawberry season here in North Carolina I knew there would be an abundance of the deep red fruit available!

I have never made a cake without having at least one major mishap and this time was no different! In the middle of mixing the heavy whipping cream, the mixer flew out of my hands and splattered whipped cream all over the counter, my cabinets, and me! In the Youtube video I share my husband’s reaction at seeing the mess! Good thing I love homemade whipped cream, even if it is all over my kitchen walls!

Despite the goof-up this cake turned out even better than I could have hoped for! The flavors were perfectly balanced. The cake itself wasn’t too sweet, thank goodness, otherwise the Nutella would have been overboard. The combination of the chocolate, hazelnut, strawberries, and cream was perfect! It was gone within two days and I indulged a bit more than I should have! Dang sweet tooth!

Thank You!!!

I just want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your encouragement and support. It means the absolute world to me and I never would have been on the Bhooked podcast without you all. You are the reason I keep making and sharing. Every encouraging comment and each friendship made gives me the motivation to keep making and sharing.
